The Chicago White Sox continued their trade deadline sell-off by sending third baseman Jake Burger to the Miami Marlins.
Miami is sending their No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, left-handed pitcher Jake Eder to the White Sox in the deal.
Burger has been one of Chicago's best hitters in 2023 with 25 home runs and a .214/.279/.527 slash line. He is also not arbitration eligible until after the 2025 season and will be under team control through 2028.
A first-round pick of the White Sox in 2017, Burger has spent parts of the last three major league seasons with the team, breaking out in a full-time role this season.
The Marlins continue to add as they look to claim a wild card spot in the National League. They currently are part of a three-way tie for the final spot with a 57-50 record.
