The best shortstop on the market is off the board.
Willy Adames signed a seven-year. $182-million deal with the San Francisco Giants, ESPN's Jeff Passan reported Saturday.
The deal is pending a physical.
It is the largest contract given out in franchise history, beating the previous $167 million deal the club gave to now-president of baseball operations Buster Posey during his playing days.
Passan reported that Adames will receive a $22 million signing bonus as part of the contract.
The 29-year-old SS timed his free agency well with a career year in 2024.
Over 161 games with the Milwaukee Brewers last season, Adames reached career-bests in stolen bases (21), home runs (32), doubles (33), games played (161) and fWAR (4.8)
Adames has a career slash line of .248/.322/.444 over seven seasons with the Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays.
In 2024, San Francisco finished fourth in the NL West with an 80-82 record.
Earlier this off-season, the Giants parted ways with top executive Farhan Zaidi, replacing the Canadian with Posey.
