After reports that a Shohei Ohtani decision was imminent, potentially even coming before week's end, a source told Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith and Shi Davidi that Ohtani has not yet made his choice, nor is there a timeline on his decision.
The Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers are reported to be finalists to land the 29-year-old AL MVP, and the sports world has been eagerly awaiting the conclusion to the Ohtani sweepstakes.
With Ohtani being undoubtedly the star of the market this year, there have been other big names floating about this off-season. Outfielder and three-time All Star Juan Soto was acquired by the New York Yankees from the San Diego Padres in a blockbuster trade.
The Blue Jays had interest in Soto, but reportedly prioritized their pursuit of Ohtani.
Nicholson-Smith confirmed on Friday evening that, despite differing reports, Ohtani is not in Toronto and is remains at his home in Southern California at this time.
