Sportsnet's Shi Davidi has earned the 2023 Bob Elliott Media Recognition Award, Baseball Canada announced Friday.
A graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University’s (formerly Ryerson University) journalism program, Davidi worked at the Canadian Press before joining Sportsnet as an MLB insider, columnist and TV analyst in 2011.
Davidi has written two books on the Toronto Blue Jays: Great Expectations (along with John Lott), in 2013, and The Big 50: Toronto Blue Jays, in 2021.
Davidi is also an instructor at Centennial College’s sports journalism program in Toronto and just completed a one-year term as president of the Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA), where he also serves as chairman of the Toronto chapter.
The award is named after sportswriter Bob Elliott, the 2012 former winner of the BBWAA Career Excellence Award, the highest award given by the Baseball Writers' Association of America.
