Top Toronto Blue Jays prospect Ricky Tiedemann has returned from injury and impressed in his rehab performance in the Florida Complex League.
Sidelined since May with left-bicep inflammation, the 20-year-old starter made his return with Dunedin Friday and pitched 2.0 innings, with no runs, no walks and three strikeouts.
The left-hander pitched 12.2 innings with double-A New Hampshire before his injury this year, posting a 4.97 ERA and allowing nine home runs over four games. The Blue Jays hope that Tiedemann will be able to return to New Hampshire soon.
"The hope for me is just that he gets back here [New Hampshire] in a couple weeks and then we can see where he's at as far as how he's feeling bouncing back, how he's feeling recovering after two inning outings, after three inning outings and see where we are there," Fisher-Cats pitching coach Drew Hayes told Blake Murphy on Jays Talk Plus Friday morning. "I think the biggest thing with Ricky is just holding the velocity and that he feels good coming out of those outings."
Tiedemann was selected in the third round of the 2021 MLB Draft by the Blue Jays.
