The Blue Jays made a series of roster moves on Monday ahead of their series against the Marlins in Miami, led by addressing the injury to catcher Alejandro Kirk.
Kirk, who took a pitch off the hand in Sunday's loss to Texas, was placed on the 10-day injured list with a hand laceration. Kirk had to be removed from the game in the second inning, though x-rays ruled out a fracture.
The Jays called up catcher Tyler Heineman from triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move. He will be active for Monday's game (6:40 p.m. ET / 3:40 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and SN NOW) but not starting.
The team also recalled right-hander Trent Thornton, while optioning righty Bowden Francis to Buffalo. Thornton has a 3.04 ERA and a 1.479 WHIP in 23.2 innings pitched over 18 games this season with Buffalo.
