Toronto Blue Jays baseball is back as spring training baseball opens.
Blue Jays fans will get their first look at some new additions to the lineup with Justin Turner and Isiah Kiner-Falefa set for their debuts against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Turner will bat third as the designated hitter while Kiner-Falefa will bat sixth and start at third base. Bo Bichette will get the start at shortstop and hit second while Santiago Espinal will lead things off and start at second base.
Toronto opens their Grapefruit League schedule, which includes 32 games, against the Phillies in Dunedin at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sportsnet.
Among the regulars not featured in the opening of spring training are Vladimir Guerrero Jr., George Springer, and Kevin Kiermaier.
Top prospect Ricky Tiedemann was supposed to start against the visiting Phillies but the 21-year-old experienced left hamstring discomfort. Manager John Schneider decided to scratch him as a precaution and righty Chad Dallas, who had a solid season between single-A Vancouver and double-A New Hampshire last year, will get the ball in his place.
