For the second straight day, a Canadian big-leaguer was forced to leave a game with a scary injury.
On Friday, it was Chicago White Sox right fielder Tristan Peters who exited, departing against the Detroit Tigers after colliding with the wall in the fifth inning.
Peters was racing back as he tracked a fly ball from Kevin McGonigle, and after missing the catch, his momentum carried him into a pole in the fence.
The Winkler, Man., native was able to walk off under his own power after a visit from manager Will Venable and team training staff.
Chicago later announced that Peters suffered a left shoulder/rib contusion and is day-to-day going forward.
Peters has been a breakout sensation for the upstart White Sox, earning an all-star nod in his rookie season.
He was 0-for-1 with a walk before exiting on Friday, bringing his slash line to .272/.344/.451 on the season.
Fellow Canuck Jared Young had to be stretchered off in Thursday's New York Mets game after a collision at first base and has been declared out for the remainder of the season with concussion symptoms.
