New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge and Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman were named MLB's May players of the month in their respective leagues on Friday.
Judge, the reigning American League MVP, hit .342 over 21 games in May with 12 home runs, 25 RBI, a .474 on-base and .882 slugging percentage.
The 31-year-old's sixth player of the month award ties Alex Rodriguez for most in Yankees' history.
Freeman, a member of Canada's national baseball team this year, recorded a hit in 26 of his 28 games played in May and currently owns a 20-game hit streak. In total, he hit .400 with six home runs, 26 RBI, and 17 doubles while posting a .462 on-base and .722 slugging percentage.
This is Freeman's third career player of the month award, previously winning twice as a member of the Atlanta Braves.
MLB also unveiled its pitchers of the month, with Nathan Eovaldi of the Texas Rangers taking home the American League honours and San Diego Padres righty Michael Wacha winning the National League award.
Both pitchers earned their first career pitcher of the month awards by posting sub-1.00 ERAs across five starts each.
Other monthly award winners included Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung, who took home his second straight American League rookie of the month, and Spencer Steer, who won the honours in the National League.
Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants pitchers Alex Lange and Camilo Doval were named the relievers of the month in their respective leagues.
