As the New York Yankees try to extend the World Series with a Game 4 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers, they are moving some pieces around in their lineup.
Designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton is sliding down to the five-hole in Tuesday's lineup after serving as New York's cleanup hitter through the first three games of this year's Fall Classic.
Third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. will move up to hit behind Aaron Judge.
Stanton has been one of the Yankees' most reliable hitters in the World Series, going 4-for-13 with three RBIs and a Game 1 homer.
Moving Chisholm up makes the bottom half of New York's lineup less left-handed. Throughout the series, four of the Yankees' last five hitters have commonly been lefties.
With the Dodgers deploying a bullpen game, the move could make for some more difficult decisions for manager Dave Roberts.
Los Angeles is making one change in its lineup from Game 3, swapping catcher Will Smith and centre fielder Kiké Hernández. Hernández went 2-for-4 on Monday while hitting eighth and is getting bumped up to the six-hole.
The Dodgers also revealed that right-hander Ben Casparius will serve as the opener to kick off the bullpen game.
Casparius made his MLB debut for Los Angeles this summer, appearing in three games before cracking the post-season roster.
The 25-year-old has yet to appear in the World Series, but pitched in the NLCS three times, not allowing a run in 4.1 innings of work.
