Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitchers Alek Manoah and Erik Swanson are scheduled to make a rehab appearance with the low-A Dunedin Blue Jays on Sunday.
Manoah is expected to throw 65 pitches in the outing. He is working back from shoulder soreness and inflammation suffered during spring training and started the year on the 15-day injured list.
The 26-year-old made only one start in spring training, lasting one and two-thirds innings, hitting three batters and giving up four earned runs.
He threw a simulated game on Wednesday and manager John Schneider said that he struck out six over three innings and showed well with his velocity and command.
Swanson is slated to pitch one inning after Manoah.
The 30-year-old righty threw a live batting practice session on Thursday that “went well,” according to Schneider, as he nears a return from forearm tightness he has dealt with since spring training and also began the year on the 15-day injured list.
He posted a 2.97 ERA and struck out 75 hitters over 66.2 innings of work for Toronto in 2023.
Dunedin is hosting the Lakeland Tigers. The game starts at noon ET and 9 a.m. PT. The low-A Blue Jays roster includes 2023 first-round pick Arjun Nimmala and 2022 draft picks Brandon Barreriera and Tucker Toman.
