The Toronto Blue Jays announced Tuesday that the first phase of the $300 million Rogers Centre renovations is well underway, and gave updates on the progress thus far.
The club provided pictures of the work being done, including the now bare 500-level after removing around 17,000 seats in the demolition phase which was completed on Nov. 18.
The Blue Jays also said that 2.2 million pounds of materials — including concrete, steel and metal — have been recycled from the stadium.
The team initially announced the detailed plans for the off-season renovations on July 28, 2022. That announcement said the renovation would focus on “modernizing the fan experience and building world-class player facilities.”
The multi-year renovation project is scheduled to update the outfield 100 and 200 levels, the 500 level and the field level for Opening Day 2023.
