Blue Jays’ Bichette in lineup vs. Mariners, Springer out

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider joins Blair and Barker to talk about why he remains confident that shortstop Bo Bichette will turn his offensively poor season around.

The Toronto Blue Jays are making some changes to their starting lineup against the Seattle Mariners.

Shortstop Bo Bichette returns to the lineup after being a late scratch for the series finale against the Houston Astros on Thursday with a right forearm contusion while outfielder George Springer is not in the starting lineup.

Addison Barger will take Springer’s place in right field and will bat seventh in the lineup. Spencer Horwitz moves back up to the leadoff position, with Bichette at the No. 2 spot.

Bichette is still struggling to break out offensively, batting just .148 in the past seven games with four hits in 27 at-bats.

Bichette and the Blue Jays will try to rebound from a disappointing home stand when they take on the AL West-leading Mariners. Watch the action starting at 9:40 p.m. ET / 6:40 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet +.
