Blue Jays’ Bo Bichette returns to starting lineup against Astros

The Toronto Blue Jays will have shortstop Bo Bichette back in the starting lineup Monday afternoon when they open a four-game series against the Houston Astros.

Bichette, who did not play during Sunday’s 8-1 loss to the New York Yankees, returns to the leadoff spot in the batting order.

The 26-year-old came off the injured list this past Tuesday after missing time due to a right calf strain. The two-time all-star has batted 3-for-21 with a double and five runs scored since his return.

First baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will not miss a start after he was hit by a pitch Sunday. X-rays were negative, according to Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi.

Alejandro Kirk is in at catcher as Danny Jansen has been placed on the paternity list.

Right-handed pitcher Yariel Rodriguez (0-2, 5.94 ERA) gets the start on the mound.

Watch the Blue Jays host the Astros live at 3 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. PT on Sportsnet or Sportsnet+.
