The Toronto Blue Jays have claimed right-handed pitcher Luis Frias off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks and have optioned him to the triple-A Buffalo Bisons, the team announced Saturday.

Frías, 26, has appeared in seven games for the Diamondbacks this season, while spending a majority of the campaign with Arizona’s triple-A squad in Reno, posting a 4.68 ERA over 22 minor-league contests.

The six-foot-three, 245-pound reliever was signed by the Diamondbacks as an international free agent in 2015, eventually making his Major League debut for the club in 2021.

The 26-year-old Frias has posted a 6.55 ERA over 54 career MLB games and a 3.82 mark over 142 minor-league appearances (67 starts).
