The Toronto Blue Jays are working to expand stadium capacity at Sahlen Field with fully vaccinated sections after New York State updated large-scale outdoor event protocols last week, the team announced on Tuesday.
New State Governor Andrew Cuomo’s May 5 announcement states that “fully vaccinated attendees at large-scale outdoor events may be seated at full capacity in assigned sections designated solely for fully vaccinated individuals.”
The Blue Jays are engaged with local officials, including the state’s Department of Health, to proceed with a safe plan. As a result, ticket sales have been pushed back a week.
The team will handle the ticketing, announcing that they’ll follow local and state guidelines allowing for up to 24 per cent of Sahlen Field’s 16,600 capacity.
Toronto begins playing at Buffalo’s Sahlen Field on June 1, after beginning the season at TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Florida.
