Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Spencer Horwitz is leaving his first full MLB season with some well-deserved recognition.
The 26-year-old was named to MLB Pipeline’s All-Rookie second team on Wednesday.
In 97 games with the Blue Jays in 2024, Horwitz slashed .265/.357/.433 with 12 home runs and 40 RBIs.
His 1.9 fWAR was second among rookie first baseman, trailing only Chicago Cubs’ Michael Busch, who was named to the All-Rookie first team.
Horwitz made his MLB debut with the Blue Jays in 2023, appearing in 15 games. But a number of injuries and trades thrust Horwitz into a regular spot in the Blue Jays’ lineup in 2024 and he made the most of it, primarily playing at first base.
The Blue Jays selected Horwitz in the 24th round of the 2019 MLB Draft.
