Blue Jays’ Jonatan Clase, Will Wagner make triple-A Buffalo debut

The Toronto Blue Jays‘ newest additions are already making an impact.

On Thursday, Jonatan Clase and Will Wagner, who made their debut in the Blue Jays organization with triple-A Buffalo, battled the Worcester Red Sox to the bitter end.

Despite losing 9-8, the duo had a number of bright moments that Jays fans can only hope is foreshadowing.

In Wagner’s very first at-bat, he ripped an RBI double that brought home Clase.

Clase, 22, finished the game 1-for-3 and came around to score twice. Wagner, the son of Houston Astros legendary closer Billy Wagner, finished 2-for-3 with one RBI and one walk.

On July 26, the Jays traded Yimi García to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for Clase and Jacob Sharp. On Monday, Toronto acquired Wagner in a haul for Yusei Kikuchi that also included Jake Bloss and Joey Loperfido.

In other positive news for Blue Jays fans, Arjun Nimmala stayed red hot with the single-A Dunedin Blue Jays on Thursday.

Nimmala, the Blue Jays’ first-round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, crushed another home run to bring his total to four in his past six games.
