Blue Jays’ Kevin Kiermaier better, but will not play in rubber match vs. Twins

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier left Saturday's game against the Minnesota Twins after making two long, taxing throws from the outfield.

Toronto Blue Jays centre-fielder Kevin Kiermaier says he’s feeling better, after having to leave Saturday’s game in the first inning with back issues.

Kiermaier said he’s still feeling some discomfort, however, after his lower back locked up on him during Saturday’s 9-7 loss in Minnesota. He was not listed as a starter on Sunday.

The 33-year-old is listed as day-to-day with what he described as a familiar issue. He is hopeful that rest and treatment will make him available by Tuesday when the Blue Jays begin a three-game set at home against the Brewers.
