Blue Jays pitcher Bowden Francis named AL Player of the Week

It was a stellar week for Bowden Francis, and the Toronto Blue Jays pitcher was recognized for it.

MLB named Francis the American League Player of the Week, making him the fourth pitcher to earn the honour this season.

Francis was 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA through 14 innings pitched while allowing four hits with no walks and posting 15 strikeouts in two starts this past week. He pitched a career-high seven innings against the Los Angeles Angels a week ago, allowing one run on one hit with no walks and a career-high eight strikeouts.

In his second start, which came on Sunday in Chicago against the Cubs, he allowed just three hits over seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts and no walks. It was the first time that he earned a win in consecutive appearances since back in April.

Toronto has now earned the honour three times this season this season after infielder Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was named twice.
