Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect Adam Macko continues to climb the organizational ladder.
The 23-year-old left-hander made his triple-A debut on Tuesday night, throwing 70 pitches — 38 for strikes — over 3.0 innings for the Buffalo Bisons.
Macko allowed four hits, three earned runs and three walks while striking out three in the outing against the New York Yankees’ triple-A affiliate, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
He got tagged for a two-run homer in the first by Ben Rice and a solo shot in the third by Jorbit Vivas.
Macko, a Slovakia-born, Alberta-raised prospect, threw 25 sliders, 14 curveballs, 13 sinkers, 10 fastballs and eight changeups, according to Baseball Savant. He topped out at 93.8 m.p.h with his fastball and averaged 91.6 with his heater.
He forced RailRiders hitters to swing and miss seven times in the game, five of which came on the slider.
The Blue Jays acquired the six-foot southpaw from the Seattle Mariners alongside Erik Swanson in exchange for Teoscar Hernandez in the 2022 off-season.
Macko spent the entirety of the 2023 campaign pitching in high-A for the Vancouver Canadians and moved up to double-A New Hampshire in 2024. Over 81.1 innings with the Fisher Cats, Macko posted a 4.87 ERA and 3.72 FIP with 90 strikeouts and 30 walks.
