Blue Jays reliever Yimi Garcia leaves game with right knee injury

Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitcher Yimi Garcia was lifted early from his relief appearance Saturday against the Oakland Athletics due to discomfort in his right knee.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said after the 7-3 win that Garcia will be evaluated Sunday. Although Schneider described it as a nagging injury, he does not expect Garcia to land on the injured reserve.

Garcia came in for the start of the ninth inning and faced four batters, giving up two hits and zero runs.

Closer Jordan Romano took over with two runners on base and two out and struck out A’s first baseman Ryan Noda to end the game and pick up his MLB-leading 23rd save of the season.
