Blue Jays’ Schneider out of lineup vs. Brewers, Horwitz to lead off

For the second time in three days, Davis Schneider will start his evening on the Toronto Blue Jays’ bench as the team looks for bounce-back win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday.

Schneider was unable to accrue a hit from the leadoff spot during his four trips to the plate on Monday and will be replaced at the top of the Jays’ lineup by Spencer Horwitz.

Justin Turner will move to first after getting a rest in Toronto’s 3-1 loss on Monday. Vladimir Guerrerro Jr. will bat in his usual spot in the lineup as designated hitter.

Manager John Schneider likely hopes the shakeup translates to some offensive production following a one-run, four-hit performance to open the team’s three-game set with the Brewers.

The possibility still looms for Davis Schneider to enter Tuesday’s contest as a pinch hitter, with the 25-year-old doing so in his team’s 6-4 victory over Oakland on Sunday.

He added his team-leading 31st RBI with a pinch-hit sacrifice fly to score Daulton Varsho and help secure the Blue Jays’ second sweep of the season.

Toronto faces off against Milwaukee at 8:10 p.m EST on Tuesday. Catch the game on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
