Blue Jays sign third-round pick Juaron Watts-Brown

The Toronto Blue Jays and third-round pick Juaron Watts-Brown have agreed to a $1,002,785 signing bonus, according to Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi.

Watts-Brown, a 21-year-old right-handed pitcher out of Oklahoma State, was the only remaining member of Toronto’s draft picks taken in the first 10 rounds yet to sign.

The assigned slot value for the 89th pick is $771,500, meaning the Blue Jays had to go $231,285 over slot to get the deal done with Watts-Brown.

With the Cowboys in 2023, Watts-Brown posted a 5.03 ERA with 124 strikeouts over 82.1 innings of work.

Toronto’s second pick of the 2023 Draft, Watts-Brown received the following grades from MLB Pipeline: Fastball: 50 | Curveball: 55 | Slider: 60 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 45 | Overall: 50.
