Toronto Blue Jays top prospect Ricky Tiedemann put together three dominant innings Friday for low-A Dunedin as he continues his rehab from a biceps injury.
The 20-year-old southpaw recorded all nine outs via strikeout while allowing just one hit and no walks. Tiedemann threw 50 pitches, generated 14 whiffs and averaged 96.4 m.p.h with his fastball while topping out at 98 m.p.h.
He was also consistently in the zone, throwing 37 of his offerings for strikes.
It was Tiedemann’s third rehab appearance and second with the Dunedin Blue Jays after leaving a double-A start with left biceps inflammation on May 4. He has yet to give up a run or hit during his rehab and has now totalled 18 strikeouts over eight innings.
A third-round pick of the Blue Jays in 2021, Tiedemann shot up prospect rankings after a strong 2022 season.
Before his injury earlier this year, he had a 4.97 ERA over four double-A starts. He struck out 23 hitters over 12.2 innings but also walked seven.
