Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to bat seventh for AL at All-Star Game

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will be hitting in an unfamiliar spot in the lineup for Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game in Texas.

On Monday, American League manager Bruce Bochy revealed his batting lineup for the Midsummer Classic at Globe Life Field, and Guerrero will bat seventh in a lineup full of the best hitters in baseball.

Steven Kwan of the Cleveland Guardians will hit leadoff, followed by Baltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson, New York Yankees right fielder Juan Soto and center fielder Aaron Judge, Houston Astros designed hitter Yordan Alvarez, Guardians third baseman José Ramírez, Guerrero, Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman and then finally Texas Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien.

Guerrero is making his fourth consecutive All-Star appearance after beating out Orioles’ Ryan Mountcastle to earn the starting nod at first base.

Through the Blue Jays’ first 95 games, the 25-year-old slugger is slashing .288/.359/.456 with 14 home runs and 55 RBIs. He will be Toronto’s only participant in the 2024 All-Star festivities.

You can watch Guerrero and the rest of the AL take on the National League in the 2024 All-Star Game live on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ on Tuesday, starting at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT.
