Blue Jays’ Whit Merrifield among finalists for Silver Slugger award

Toronto Blue Jays utilityman Whit Merrifield is the club’s lone finalist for the Silver Slugger Awards this season.

MLB announced the finalists at each position on Thursday.

Merrifield is up against Bradon Drury (Angels), Gunner Henderson (Orioles) and Isacc Paredes (Rays) for the award.

Merrifield was an All-Star for the Blue Jays this season and hit .272/.318/.382 with 11 home runs and 67 RBIs.

The Silver Slugger award is voted on by each manager and three coaches from all 30 teams. The winners will be announced Nov. 9.
