Cavan Biggio is back in the big leagues.
The Atlanta Braves announced Wednesday that they have placed pitcher Reynaldo Lopez on the 15-day injured list, optioned infielder Luke Williams to triple-A and recalled pitcher Daysbell Hernandez and Biggio.
Biggio, 29, was acquired by Atlanta from the San Francisco Giants on Sept. 7 and appeared in one game with the club’s triple-A affiliate, going 1-for-5 with an RBI.
Over 74 MLB games this season, split between the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers, Biggio posted a .622 OPS with five home runs, 19 RBIs and two stolen bases.
Lopez left Tuesday’s game against the Washington Nationals with right shoulder tightness after throwing 25 pitches, 16 for strikes. His fastball velocity — usually 96 m.p.h. — was down to the 92-94 m.p.h. range.
The 30-year-old right-hander has a 2.03 ERA over 128.2 innings for the Braves this season.
