Cody Bellinger is taking his MVP swing to the digital world, but this time he’ll be wielding axes and swords.
The Dodgers star will cameo in the new video game, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, as a character named Otta Sluggasson. The game’s developers, Ubisoft, announced Bellinger’s cameo in a new trailer released Wednesday, saying Sluggasson is “a Dane with a knack for hitting rocks very very far.”
Bellinger went to Ubisoft studios to film motion capture for the game and the trailer shows him swinging and catching various weapons while wearing a motion-capture suit. The outfielder’s face was scanned into the game, too, and he recorded lines for his character to say.
“I’m excited. I love video games, so when I heard I had the opportunity to be a character in a big video game, I was excited, I really was,” Bellinger said in an interview with ESPN. “I’m kind of a video game nerd. My brother and I played Assassin’s Creed back in the day and used to love it. The graphics are so realistic. It’s a game that will take up a lot of your time.”
Fans will get a chance to see the 2019 NL MVP in all his Viking glory when Assassin’s Creed Valhalla releases later this month.
