Dodgers move pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto to 60-day injured list

The Los Angeles Dodgers have moved right-handed pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto to the 60-day injured list, the team announced Sunday.

Yamamto, who is dealing with a strained rotator cuff, will not be eligible to return before Aug. 16.

The 25-year-old left Japan and signed a 12-year, $325 million contract with the Dodgers during the off-season.

He holds a 6-2 record with a 2.92 ERA and 84 strikeouts over 14 starts during his first year in the majors.

Yamamoto pitched just two innings during his last start on June 15 against the Kansas City Royals before leaving the game. His start had been pushed back by two days due to triceps tightness, he told reporters via an interpreter, and he started feeling it again during warmups.

The Dodgers also announced they’ve activated right-handed pitcher Brent Honeywell and optioned right-handed pitcher Ricky Vanasco.
