Dodgers’ River Ryan exits start in fifth inning with right forearm tightness

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher River Ryan exited Saturday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates with an arm injury.

Ryan exited the game in the fifth inning when he looked to be in pain after throwing a pitch outside of the zone. The Dodgers later said he exited with right forearm tightness.

After the game, manager Dave Roberts announced that Ryan will be going on the injured list. Roberts added that an MRI on Sunday will determine the severity of Ryan’s injury.

The 25-year-old was making his fourth big-league start and had pitched 4.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts.

Ryan had been lights out in his three previous starts, recording a 1.72 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP with 14 strikeouts.

The Dodgers rotation has been ravaged with injuries as both Yoshinobu Yamamoto (triceps) and Walker Buehler (hip) have been out since June 15 and June 18 respectively. Buehler is set to rejoin the rotation Wednesday against the Milwaukee Brewers.
