Giants to honour late Willie Mays with ’24’ patch for game vs. Cubs

The San Francisco Giants will honour the late baseball legend Willie Mays with a No. 24 patch for their matchup against the Chicago Cubs on Monday night.

Mays passed away at the age of 93 on June 18, stinging the hearts of spectators across the sports world. Now, his former team looks to continue to pay their respect during a series against the Cubs, a historic rival.

The two-time MVP suited up for 358 games against the Cubs, totalling 427 hits, while batting a .319 average over those 1,338 at-bats. Throughout Mays’ career, he clobbered 660 home runs with 92 being against Chicago.
