The Houston Astros have agreed to a five-year, $85-million extension with right-hander Lance McCullers Jr., according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Mark Berman, of Fox 26 Houston, first reported the two sides reaching a five-year agreement.
After missing the entirety of the 2019 season due to Tommy John surgery, McCullers returned to the Astros for 2020 and went 3-3 in 11 starts with a 3.93 ERA and 56 strikeouts across 55 innings.
A first-round pick of the Astros in 2012, the Tampa native sports a career ERA of 3.70 in 94 appearances, 91 of those being starts, and was named an all-star in 2017.
