Report: Dodgers’ May shut down for rest of 2024 with throat injury

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Dustin May is done for the rest of 2024.

May, 26, will miss the final two months of the Dodgers season due to what ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports to be an esophageal tear. May underwent surgery to fix the tear earlier this week after experiencing pain in his throat and stomach, according to Passan.

May has yet to take the mound for the Dodgers in 2024 as he continues to rehab from an injury to his flexor tendon that sidelined him for the second half of last season.

Through his five seasons with the Dodgers, May has been limited to just 191 innings as injuries have played a role in his diminished playing time.

May had a 4-1 record going before hitting the Injured list last season, fanning 34 batters in 48 innings.
