Report: Marlins manager Skip Schumaker not returning next season

The Miami Marlins will be looking for a new manager next season, according to a report from ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Skip Schumaker told Marlins players and staff after Friday’s win over the Blue Jays that he will not be returning in 2025.

The team announced that Schumaker would miss the final two games of the season due to a health issue in his family.

Bench coach Luis Urueta will be acting manager for the final two games.

Schumaker, 44, was in his second season managing the Marlins. Miami made the playoffs with an 84-78 record in 2023 and Schumaker was named National League manager of the year. But Miami sits last in the National League with a 60-100 record as this season draws to a close.

Schumaker played 11 MLB seasons with the Cardinals, Dodgers and Reds as a utility player, retiring in 2015.
