Report: RHP Jack Flaherty agrees to one-year, $14M deal with Tigers

Right-handed starter Jack Flaherty has agreed to a one-year, $14-million deal with the Detroit Tigers, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported on Thursday.

Flaherty, 28, was 8-9 with a 4.99 ERA in 29 games (27 starts) with the St. Louis Cardinals and Baltimore Orioles in 2023.

The American League East champion Orioles acquired Flaherty in a trade-deadline deal. He was 1-3 with a 6.75 ERA in nine games (seven starts) with Baltimore.

For his career, Flaherty is 42-34 with a 3.75 ERA in 131 games (125 starts) with the Cardinals and Orioles.

The Cardinals picked Flaherty in the first round (34th overall) of the 2014 MLB Draft. He made the All-MLB second team in 2019 and finished fourth in NL Cy Young voting.

Flaherty is the second starter signed by the Tigers this off-season after Detroit added Kenta Maeda last month.
