Schneider on Blue Jays’ recent struggles: ‘Sooner or later, we’re going to play in sync’

The Toronto Blue Jays‘ least favourite place in the world at the moment has to be T-Mobile Park in Seattle.

After the Blue Jays blew a lead for the second straight day, Toronto’s record during its last 12 trips to the Pacific Northwest now sits at a dismal 2-10.

The loss puts the Blue Jays 6.5 games behind the Baltimore Orioles for the AL East lead after a 1-4 stretch over their past five games.

As many have pointed out, this seems to be a team that just can’t make things easy on itself. In many games, the offence has let them down. Occasionally, it has been the starting pitching. Saturday, it was the bullpen.

But don’t expect Blue Jays manager John Schneider to push the panic button anytime soon. He’s confident his team will put it all together soon enough.

“It’s baseball, it works out like that sometimes,” Schneider said of Saturday’s frustrating loss. “Sooner or later, we’re going to play in sync for quite a while and we’re going to be on a nice little roll.”

As far as why he thought the bullpen had a rare stumble Saturday, Schneider chalked it up to the fact that the bullpen’s workload “catches up at times.”

Of course, it had to come on the same day that the Blue Jays’ offence finally provided starter Kevin Gausman with some run support.

But that’s just how things have gone for the Blue Jays in Seattle as of late.

Toronto will look to break the Seattle curse Sunday when they send Alek Manoah to the mound. You can watch the game live on Sportsnet and SN NOW at 4:10 p.m. ET / 1:10 p.m. PT.
