Some new blood is coming to Toronto FC.
TFC finalized a deal to acquire Lewis Morgan from San Diego FC in exchange for a 2026 International Roster Slot, the team announced Wednesday.
The MLS club also completed a loan to bring over Colombian winger Alejandro Piedrahita, it announced Friday.
Morgan, 29, joined San Diego this season before previously playing for both Red Bull New York and Inter Miami.
“We are happy to add Lewis at this time. He has established himself as an impactful attacker in the Eastern Conference over the past several seasons,” Toronto FC general manager Jason Hernandez said in a statement. “His flexibility to play across multiple positions in the attack will be a valuable quality for our group moving forward.”
Morgan had three assists over 13 appearances with San Diego this season. He has also made seven senior appearances for Scotland on the international stage.
Piedrahita, who turns 24 on Thursday, had been playing with CSKA Sofia, with whom he won the Bulgarian Cup.
Piedrahita had two goals in 18 games with Sofia after joining from Liga Argentina following a stint in Colombia.
"Alejandro is a quick, aggressive and direct wide attacker who will bolster our offensive group for the remainder of the 2026 season and the upcoming 2027 MLS Sprint season. He will provide us with an additional dynamic threat in transition moments and increase the level of competition within the team," Hernandez said.
He could serve as an immediate replacement for TFC's Deandre Kerr, who is set to join Portugal's Avs Futebol on a permanent transfer with TFC retaining a future sell-on percentage, TFC announced.
“We would like to thank Deandre for his contributions over the past few years, as well as thank the Kerr family for their efforts and commitment to TFC from his Academy days through our First Team,” said Jason Hernandez. “We wish Deandre all the best in the next chapter of his career.”
Kerr, 23, had 21 goals and three assists across 114 appearances with TFC.
The forward from Ajax, Ont., joined the club as a homegrown player on Jan. 21, 2022 and made his professional debut against FC Dallas a month later.
In 2024, Kerr became the first player in Toronto FC history to score four goals in a single competitive match during the 8-1 victory over CS Saint-Laurent in the quarterfinal second leg of the Canadian Championship.
The Reds return to action Saturday against the Chicago Fire.
