Toronto FC midfielder Noble Okello has been fined by the MLS disciplinary committee for “failure to leave the field in a timely manner” after being sent off in the fifth minute of TFC’s 3-1 loss to CF Montreal last Friday.
The 21-year-old Okello, making his ninth career MLS appearance, was initially yellow-carded for a high challenge that caught the right thigh of Montreal’s Victor Wanyama three minutes into the game. The sanction turned into a red card in the fifth minute after video review.
The MLS did not disclose the size of the fine.
The dismissal means Okello will miss Toronto’s next game Sept. 11 at FC Cincinnati.
