The Portland Timbers have signed Canadian goalkeeper and free agent Maxime Crépeau, the club announced on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old is set to join the Timbers through the 2025 season with a club option for 2026.
After former France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris joined LAFC from Tottenham Hotspur in December, the departure of the Longueil, Que., native became imminent.
In 11 MLS seasons, Crépeau has recorded 100 regular-season appearances (all starts) and 23 clean sheets across all competitions with LAFC (2022-2023), Vancouver Whitecaps (2019-2021) and the Montreal Impact (2013-2017).
"His ability and character are standout qualities that will strengthen our group. Max possesses leadership and experience that was a necessity for us in this position and couldn’t be more thrilled by his addition," Timbers general manager Ned Grabavoy said in a release.
Internationally, Crépeau has made 15 appearances for the Canadian national team, but did not attend the 2022 World Cup in Qatar due to injury.
Portland's 2024 MLS campaign begins on Feb. 24 at Providence Park against the Colorado Rapids, with kick off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT.
