Fernandes beats Ueda, defends ONE FC title

Bibiano Fernandes defended his ONE FC bantamweight Friday in Pasay City, Philippines, defeating Masakatsu Ueda by unanimous decision.

Fernandes (16-3) primarily used his strong grappling to get the better of Ueda (18-3-2) for five rounds. Fernandes has now won eight straight fights dating back to 2010. The Brazilian, who trains out of Vancouver, is one of the most talented fights not currently in the UFC and has won 15 of his last 16 fights overall.

Also on the card, UFC veteran James McSweeney knocked out Australia’s Chris Lokteff with a flush knee in the first round of their heavyweight bout.
