Calvin Kattar defeated Dan Ige by unanimous decision in the main event of a UFC Fight Night event Wednesday on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi.
Kattar won a unanimous decision over five rounds, outstriking Ige 107-87 overall and pulled away in the fourth and fifth stanzas.
Kattar (22-4) was ranked No. 4 in the featherweight division heading into the event and has firmly established himself in the upper tier of contenders. Ige (14-3) had his six-fight winning streak snapped. He was the No. 10 featherweight contender prior to the event.
Flyweight veteran Tim Elliott snapped a three-fight losing streak with a unanimous decision victory over Ryan Benoit in the co-main event.
All five fights on the main card went the distance and all but one preliminary card bout ended with a finish.
The card was chock full of top prospects including Khamzat Chimaev, Jack Shore, Modestas Bukauskas, Lerone Murphy, Taila Santos and Mounir Lazzez.
