Former UFC champion Tito Ortiz has released a statement responding to allegations of drug use and custodial interference from ex-girlfriend Jenna Jameson.
“The unfortunate allegations being made against me are simply not true. I would never do anything to jeopardize my family,” Ortiz said. “Being a great father and protecting the well-being of my children remain my top priority. I thank my family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support at this time. For my children’s sake, I appreciate you respecting our privacy.”
Jameson, a former adult film star, took to Twitter Thursday to lay allegations against Ortiz, whom she began dating in 2006 and with whom she gave birth to twin boys, Jesse and Journey, in 2009.
Currently in a custody battle over the children, Jameson — who has been arrested twice in the past 13 months for DUI and battery, respectively — claimed that Ortiz was a major drug user while competing with the UFC and that he has been preventing her from seeing their kids.
Ortiz denied the allegations, telling MMAjunkie.com: “I’ve been in the UFC for 15 years. I’ve taken drug tests at every single one of my fights. I take them months before my fight, a month before my fight, right before my fight, after the fight. She can try to bash me as much as possible, but it is what it is. When someone has a problem like she does, she can’t help herself. I tried for seven years to help her. Right now, it’s just about my children.”
Furthermore, Ortiz said Jameson has not been meeting the terms of the court-ordered monitored visitation.
After posting more than a dozen tweets directed at Ortiz on Thursday, Jameson tweeted: “I am so done with twitter” only to post two more Friday accusing him of lying, seemingly in response to Ortiz’s public statement.
The two have a long history of publically feuding, including on Twitter.
In 2010, while still together Ortiz was arrested for felony domestic abuse at their home in Huntington Beach, Calif. Ortiz claimed Jameson was acting erratically as a result of an addiction to OxyContin. Both parties recanted the allegations a few days later.
