Valentina Shevchenko will be aiming for a fourth straight victory on Saturday when she puts her women’s flyweight title on the line against Liz Carmouche in the main event at UFC Fight Night Uruguay as a heavy -1200 favourite on the UFC odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Shevchenko is coming off an impressive second-round knockout victory over Jessica Eye in her first title defence at UFC 238, improving her professional MMA record to 17-3 going into Saturday night’s matchup at Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay.
The 31-year-old earned a Performance of the Night bonus for her win over Eye as -1400 chalk at sports betting sites, which also marked the first time that Shevchenko has finished an opponent by KO or TKO in eight visits to the octagon since joining the UFC in 2015. Shevchenko has seen six of her past nine overall contests decided by the judges, but has also submitted opponents in two of her past five fights, earning Performance of the Night bonuses in her victories over Priscila Cachoeira and Julianna Peña.
Carmouche lags as a lengthy +700 underdog in Saturday night’s contest. The 35-year-old followed up a unanimous decision win over Jennifer Maia as a -125 favourite last summer at UFC Fight 133 with a win over Lucie Pudilová at UFC Fight Night 145, paying at -165 odds.
Overall, each of Carmouche’s past seven contests have been decided by the judges. However, she has struggled to go 4-3 during that stretch, and has not tallied three straight victories since opening her professional MMA career on a 6-0 run a decade ago.
Elsewhere on the UFC Fight Night Uruguay odds, Vicente Luque sets his sights on a sixth straight victory as he takes on fellow welterweight Mike Perry as -225 chalk, while a clash of heavyweights has Volkan Oezdemir taking on Ilir Latifi as a solid -165 wager.
Luque has been dominant during the longest win streak of his career, finishing opponents inside of five minutes in three of his past four outings, capped by an opening-round TKO of Derrick Krantz as a -1200 bet last time out at UFC Fight Night 152.
Conversely, Perry has struggled in recent outings, losing three of his past five fights, including a first-round submission loss to Donald Cerrone at UFC Fight Night 143, but rebounded with a Fight of the Night performance in his unanimous decision win over Alex Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 150 to pay out on +140 odds.
