UFC is nothing if not unpredictable, and no one could have seen last night’s UFC strawweight championship coming.
Weili Zhang defended her title in a split-decision victory over former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 248.
Zhang and Jedrzejczyk traded punches and kicks through five rounds that were as technically fascinating as they were physically devastating — both competitors’ faces offering a living testament.
“I had a long way to get here,” Zhang said after the fight. “It was very serious, but we made it. I’m so happy now.”
It was brutal, it was enthralling, it was everything a UFC fan could have hoped the tilt would be. Hours after the final decision, Zhang and Jedrzejczyk’s swelling may be on its way to going down, but the excitement from the fight hasn’t.
Here is some of what fans on Twitter had to say about a strawweight championship for the ages.
That's the end of R3!
