A UFC welterweight championship bout between Georges St-Pierre and Johny Hendricks is slated for Nov. 16 in Las Vegas, UFC Tonight confirmed Tuesday.
St-Pierre (24-2) is coming off his eighth consecutive title defence in a unanimous decision win over Nick Diaz in the main event at UFC 158 in Montreal in March.
At the same event, Hendricks (15-1) earned his title shot by defeating former WEC and interim UFC champ Carlos Condit by unanimous decision.
This will be the first time GSP has competed outside of his native Canada since March 2010 when he defeated Dan Hardy at UFC 111 in New Jersey. GSP last fought in Las Vegas at UFC 100 in July 2009 when he defeated Thiago Alves.
At UFC 124, 154 and UFC 158, GSP headlined events at the Bell Centre in Montreal and he was the main event at the Rogers Centre in Toronto for UFC 129, the organization’s first stadium show and its first event in the province of Ontario.
No venue has been determined for the Nov. 16 event, nor is there a title for the event. UFC 166: Velasquez vs. dos Santos 3 is expected to take place on October 19 in Houston, which means GSP vs. Hendricks could serve as UFC 167, though the UFC has yet to confirm this.
