Longtime Toronto-based sports broadcaster Bob McCown says he's no longer hospitalized after suffering two strokes last month and is continuing his recovery at home.
"I am finally out of hospital and continuing my rehab at home," McCown wrote on Twitter on Wednesday. "Thanks to the team at Mississauga Trillium Hospital for your care and assistance. I can once again walk and my talking is better and I hope I can get back on my podcast soon. I love you all."
He tweeted on June 30 that he had suffered two strokes during the previous couple of weeks that had left him unable to walk or talk. He tweeted again on July 4 to say his speech and walking had improved.
The 71-year-old McCown was a longtime host on Sportsnet 590 The Fan, most notably as host of Prime Time Sports. He hosted that show for the first time in 1989.
McCown hosted the first show on The Fan when it became Canada's first all-sports radio station in 1993.
He now hosts The Bob McCown Podcast with co-host John Shannon.
