KAZAN, Russia — Canada’s Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion won silver Friday in the 10-metre synchro event at this week’s FINA World Series diving stop while teammates Jennifer Abel and Pamela Ware were second in the three-metre synchro.

Benfeito, from Montreal, and Filion, from Laval, Que., finished behind world champions Ruolin Chen and Huixia Liu of China. Sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch of Britain won bronze.

"We are really pleased with our performance today," said Filion about their second silver and third medal on the circuit this season. "There were errors here and there but still solid and consistent."

Minxia Wu and Tingmao Shi of China won gold in the three-metre competition.

Abel, from Laval, and Ware, from Beloeil, Que., were second ahead of Kristina Ilinykh and Nadezha Bazhina of Russia.

"We are very pleased," said Abel. "There are areas we need to improve. We need to be more sharp individually and our synchronization was off on our fourth dive."

Maxim Bouchard of St-Constant, Que., and Vincent Riendeau of Pointe-Claire, Que., were sixth in the men’s 10-metre synchro. Riendeau and Francois Imbeau-Dulac of St-Lazare, Que., were fifth in the men’s three-metre synchro.
