MONTREAL — Former light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal of Montreal will fight Roberto Bolonti of Argentina instead of Don (Da Bomb) George in the main event of a boxing card on Dec. 6 at the Bell Centre, promoter InterBox announced Monday.

Bolonti (35-3) was originally scheduled to face Lucian Bute in the main event, but the Romanian-born Montreal fighter was forced to with draw with a back injury.

That made a scheduled bout between Pascal and George the main event, but George wanted to renegotiate his contract.

The negotiations fell through but Bolonti agreed to face Pascal (29-2-1).

"There comes a time when negotiations have to stop and you’ve got to move forward," InterBox president Jean Bedard said in a statement. "Pascal vs Bolonti was a scenario we’d already considered, and we think it’s the right one.

"Plus, it’s important for Jean Pascal to fight."

Pascal has not fought since he defeated Bute in January.
