Rookie point guard Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz finishes a dunk over his sister, Jordan, along with comedian Kevin Hart and Hart’s son, Hendrix, during the 2018 Verizon Slam Dunk Contest at NBA All-Star Weekend. Mitchell went on to beat Larry Nance Jr. of the L.A. Lakers in the final.

World 10th-ranked Rory McIlroy drives a ball off the 17th tee during second-round play at the Genesis Open in Pacific Palisades, California on February 16. McIlroy kicked off 2018 with back-to-back top-three finishes before missing the cut at Pebble Beach. He closed out the Genesis Open tied for 20th.

Mark McMorris turns himself into a human tornado in a practice run ahead of the Men’s Big Air Final at the Pyeongchang Olympics. Fellow Canadian Sebastien Toutant went on to win gold in the event, while McMorris finished 10th.

Norway’s Johann Andre Forfang looks for his landing spot during competition in the Men’s Team Large Hill event at the Alpensia Ski Jumping Center in Pyeongchang. Forfang, who'd already earned individual silver, took gold in the team event.

A pair of South Korean skaters, Suk-hee Shim and Minjeong Choi, collide and fall during the Women’s 1,000-m. Short-Track Speed Skating Final at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Shim, world-record holder at the distance, was later disqualified.
SIX SHOOTER
Team USA’s Jocelyne Lamoureux slips the gold medal-winner past Shannon Szabados’s outstretched glove in the sixth round of the shootout that decided the women's Olympic hockey tournament. The American victory ended Canada's winning streak at four-consecutive Olympic gold medals.
MASS EFFECT
Cross-country skier Peter Mlynar of Slovakia takes a knee after the Men's 50km Mass Start on day 15 of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. Mlynar finished 51st, nearly 18 minutes behind Finnish gold medallist Iivo Niskanen.
